Wir werden unsere Erfahrungen aus vier Jahren „Passage“ Artist-in-Residence Programm in die Projektkonferenz visual artists | diverse conditions am 24. Mai 2024 in Berlin einbringen.

“Am 24. Mai 2024 von 10-17 Uhr lädt die IGBK (Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste) gemeinsam mit der Artists’ Association of Sweden, sowie in Partnerschaft mit der IAA Europe und On The Move, zur Projektkonferenz visual artists | diverse conditions ein. In Berlin und in Stockholm findet zur selben Zeit ein miteinander verbundenes Round-Table-Gespräch statt. Ca. 30 Expert*innen aus der Bildenden Kunst (Künstler*innen/ ehrenamtliche Verbandsvertreter*innen), aus Kulturinstitutionen und aus den Wissenschaften diskutieren die Rahmenbedingungen künstlerischer Arbeit im europäischen Raum unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Diversität. Auch eine Beteiligung per Zoom ist möglich. Die Veranstaltung findet auf Englisch statt.

Im Rahmen der Konferenz 2024 wollen wir weitere Erfahrungen dazu austauschen, wie man Diversitätsaspekten im Zusammenhang mit den Arbeitsbedingungen Bildender Künstler*innen in Europa mehr Aufmerksamkeit verleihen kann. Wir leben in vielerlei Hinsicht in ähnlichen Kontexten, aber es gibt auch viele Unterschiede. Als Künstler*innenorganisationen, die täglich daran arbeiten, die Bedingungen für professionelle Künstler*innen zu verbessern, sind wir der Überzeugung, dass es immer wichtiger wird, die Meinungsfreiheit zu sichern und Möglichkeiten zu schaffen, so vielen unterschiedlichen Stimmen wie möglich Gehör zu verschaffen.Der Begriff der Diversität gewinnt in demokratischen und pluralistischen Gesellschaften immer größere Relevanz. Die Vielfalt an Lebensweisen, Identitäten und Kulturen spiegelt sich bisher nicht in allen Bereichen einer Gesellschaft und institutionellen Strukturen wider.” (Text: IGBK)

“On 24 May 2024, IGBK* (Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste) together with the Artists’ Association of Sweden, and in partnership with IAA Europe and On The Move, will host the hybrid project conference. In both Berlin and Stockholm, an interconnected round table will take place. Representatives of national and European artists’ associations, visual artists, experts and cultural politicians will be discussing diversity aspects in the visual arts in Europe. An interested public can join via Zoom.

The aim of the conference in 2024 is to exchange further knowledge and experiences of how to work with aspects of diversity in the context of working conditions for visual artists in Europe. We live in similar contexts within Europe in many ways, but there are also so many differences. We, as artist organizations working daily to strengthen the conditions for professional artists, see how it gets increasingly more important to secure the freedom of expression and the possibility for as many diverse voices as possible to be heard. The concept of diversity is becoming more and more relevant in democratic and pluralistic societies. But the diversity of lifestyles, identities and cultures is not yet reflected in all areas of a society or in its institutional structures.“ (Text: IGBK)
